Dr. Fuster is Assistant Professor, Head of the Hematovascular Pathophysiology Laboratory, and Coordinator of the Atherosclerosis Research Program at CNIC.
The Hematovascular Pathophysiology Laboratory is focused on evaluating new mechanisms that link clonal hematopoiesis to cardiovascular and metabolic disorders, with an especial interest in context of aging. Their research combines human studies, both cross-sectional and longitudinal, to elucidate the associations between CH and cardiovascular disease, and experimental studies to provide causal evidence and mechanisms of action for the observations made in the human cohorts.
Dr. López-Bigas is a Research Professor at the IRBB, Associate Professor at the University Pompeu Fabra, and leader of the Biomedical Genomics lab at IRBB.
The Biomedical Genomics (BBGLab) research group is focused on the study of cancer and somatic tissues in general from a genomics perspective. They have made major contributions in the identification of cancer genes and cancer driver mutations across tumor types; in understanding the mutational processes that lead to the accumulation of mutations in tumors and in the analysis of the effect of chemotherapy in the DNA of treated patients. They have recently started contributed to the study of genes and mutations driving Clonal Hematopoiesis by repurposing tools, concepts originally developed within cancer genomics.
Dr. Bayés-Genís is the Head of ICREC (Heart Failure and Cardiac Regeneration Laboratory) and Director of iCor (Heart Research Institute at IGTP), Cardiology Chief at Trias i Pujol Hospital and Associate Professor at the University Autónoma de Barcelona.
ICREC group focuses on both basic and clinical research approaches to heart failure and cardiac regeneration. They work on the identification of prognostic factors and biomarkers of heart failure progression.
Additionally, they have a translational focus, working also with stem cells and tissue engineering to develop biocompatible patches and polymers to regenerate heart tissue.
